Baby Altug arrived at 3:20am on January 16, 2005. He was born completely naturally and without interventions in a jacuzzi-style tub. He weighed 7 lbs 6 oz, and was 20 inches in length. He is a great nurser, and very healthy in general! He's still deciding who he'll look like, but I'm happy to report he *did* inherit Mama's crooked pinkies. :)
Altug Gabriel Heath-Isigan
Altug is named after his uncle, Ibrahim Altug Isigan, whom we respect and admire very much. Anca Altug is a professor at Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus. His name is pronounced "all-to", and ends in the Turkish "soft g" which can't be generated on most word processing programs, or, it turns out, his birth certificate. Altug's middle name, Gabriel, comes from the author Gabriel Garcia Marquez who wrote the amazing "One Hundred Years of Solitude".
We are so happy to welcome Altug into our lives! He is a wonderful baby and we look forward to sharing the experience of watching him grow. We've only had time to get a few pictures uploaded, so bear with us, we barely have time to shower hahaha.
